This
is Citizenshipis a major new course for Citizenship
education in secondary schools. It provides a structured programme
of flexible activities which cover all the knowledge, skills and
understanding requirements of the compulsory Citizenship curriculum.
This is Citizenship 1 lays the
foundations of the course. It provides case studies and activities
for use in Key Stage 3, particularly in Years 7 and 8, which
look at the core themes of:
Rules and fairness
Rights, responsibilities and tolerance
The community and local government
National government
Mass media
The world as a global community.
This is Citizenship 2tackles the same themes as Book 1. It revisits these themes
at a higher level, with more advanced case studies and activities
for Years 8 and 9. Together these books provide all you need for
Key Stage 3.
The classroom-friendly activities are carefully
designed to:
be flexible for
use on their own or as part of your own school-designed scheme
of work
be accessible to all abilities
and easy to prepare and use
promote knowledge and understanding
and to develop skills of empathy, communication, participation
and responsible action
contains thoroughly researched
content and lesson plans and student activities (in history
and citizenship contexts)
allow you to incorporate local
initiatives which reflect the needs of your own school community.
The Pupil's Books are comprehensively
supported by Teacher's Resource Books which provide further help
with differentiation.
Teacher’s
Resource Books
These Teacher's Resource Books fully support the Pupil's Books,
with activity sheets to help access or extend all the major tasks,
and extensive notes for teachers on how to make this material work
in the classroom.
